Over six months late but we got there in the end and we are beyond excited to be able to reschedule this show originally planned as part of Fat Out Fest 2020. Fat Out are thrilled to be showcasing these three incredible performances in the big warehouse behind Islington Mill. This show has been a long time coming and we cannot wait to see our beautiful friends again in our spiritual Salford home soaking up some much needed sonic healing.
Lone Taxidermist presents Marra
Fat Out welcomes back the otherworldly goddess Lone Taxidermist, with her new show MARRA. Marra reflects on life as a first generation immigrant in small town Cumbria set against the arcane, esoteric rituals and traditions that bubble under the surface of everyday life. Lone Taxidermist is the utterly bizarre and otherworldly ruptured activity generated by Cumbrian musician, costume maker, skin decorator, performer and natural provocateur Natalie Sharp. Her performances manifest icons and deities drawn from the corners of the (Post-)Internet, with Sharp herself embodying and channelling ‘cake-sitting’ and new dominatrix tactics– all wrapped in plastic and smeared in whipped cream.
Rebekah Reid
Rebekah Reid is a vibrant and versatile violinist and loop pedal artist specialising in classical and jazz repertoire, improvisation and composition. Combining classical string techniques with electronics, Rebekah crafts unique sound worlds creating a tonal narrative that captures a listeners' imagination. Fat Out have had the pleasure of working with Rebekah Reid a number of times most memorably when she supported Matana Roberts and Kelly Jayne Jones in the beautiful Portico Library.
Burn into sleep
Burn into sleep is the new project from the Fat Out fam. Lauren Bolger and David McLean will be bringing us duets of poetry and improvised saxophone, blistering free-jazz, the hulking no-wave drama this Halloween. For this special Fat Out performance they have recruited celebrated British Jazz drummer Johnny Hunter, bassist Al Wilson of Ghold and trumpeter Will Lewis-Clarke.
DJ Vajayjay on the decks.
